We grabbed Joakim "disco doplan" Gidetun for a short interview about fnatic advancing to playoffs over EnVyUs, his role in the team and expectations for playoffs.
fnatic became the third team to advance to playoffs after a 16-11 victory against Envy on Cobblestone.
disco doplan believes fnatic will go on to win the Major
In our next interview from the Major, Joakim "disco doplan" Gidetun talked about the nV match, his role in fnatic and their chances in the playoffs.
Let's run through the back-and-forth first half against EnVyUs, talk me through the first half and your point of view on it.
Well, most of the rounds we had a read on them, but we didn't position in the correct way, so they just destroyed us. We had KRIMZ in B lobby kill one guy, and we were four on A and didn't get a single kill.
Going over to your T side, you lost in the second round and they took the lead, what went wrong?
The thing is, we went one by one all the time, and they only had pistols, so if all of us went together, it wouldn't have been a problem.
What about the remainder of the match, afterwards you were able to stabilize quite quickly and got most of the rounds on the B bombsite, what kind of decisions did you take in the last five or so rounds?
We just decided to play slow and work our picks, let them make the mistakes.
I talked to olofmeister and he said that you're playing the hard positions, how are you feeling in fnatic, especially compared to Epsilon where I'm sure you had more of a free role?
The difference between this and Epsilon is that in Epsilon, I could just do whatever I wanted every time I wanted it. But that was also against tier3 teams as well, so it was easier, you can't do that now. I just have to play a lot and get used to how other teams are playing, and then make decisions based on that.
How would you describe your role, both as T and CT?
I'm not forced to play support, but I do it because, I mean, we have so many good fraggers on the team. I just want to make the best opportunities for my team.
Talking about the playoffs, there are naturally going to be hard match-ups already in the quarter-finals possibly, any preference for you personally?
I think we can beat everyone and we're gonna go to the finals and win it.
